Barclays offshore interest rates
Offshore interest rates for Barclays offshore accounts
There are many great advantages in saving offshore, but one of the most compelling is that interest is paid gross of tax*.
This means that your savings and investments grow faster when they are held offshore, not just on an annual basis, but over a longer period of time. So the level of offshore interest rates can be particularly important for long term returns.
Some Barclays offshore savings accounts offer returns based on a fixed interest rate set when you invest, such as our Treasury Deposits. These tend to be short to medium term savings. Others pay a rate dependant on the current interest rate, or base rate, offered within a particular currency zone.
We also have a range of flexible savings accounts available in £, € or $. The accounts allow easy access to your savings whilst still earning a good interest rate. Find out more about our International Saver and International Saver Plus Accounts
One of the best ways to maximise the credit interest on your offshore savings is to invest in a longer term savings product such as our Liquidity Management Service. This is only available to clients with £1,000,000 (or currency equivalent) or more to invest and is a cash savings portfolio which offers a long-term and low-risk way of growing your wealth.
* Please note: Your tax situation will depend on your country of residence.

Offshore high interest savings
Many of our offshore savings accounts offer higher interest rates when you save larger sums. But there are others, designed for longer term savings, which offer the same higher rate for all sums deposited over a certain amount.
Fixed term deposits
If you're looking for a competitive rate from a short-term deposit and with a return that is guaranteed, you should look into the Barclays Treasury Deposits. It offers:
- A choice of terms from as short as six months
- Flexible options at maturity
- Available in a choice of currencies.

These are medium-term savings, typically for a 3 or 5 year period, which are linked to an index, such as the Dow Jones index, or a commodity such as oil. Structured Deposits can offer the opportunity for much greater returns than more conventional savings, but if your index or commodity falls in value, all potential gains can be wiped out.
International interest rates
The international interest rates that apply to most of our accounts are tiered, so that the larger your balance the higher the rate you receive.
Interest accumulates on a daily basis, so you can even gain from depositing short-term surplus funds.
